Acting and singing is Nicole’s passion and it has been her lifelong dream to be on Broadway. However, the possibility of the life she desired seemed remote as she battled the effects of cystic fibrosis. “At sixteen years old, I was sick all the time. I could barely breathe, let alone sing.” Hope was restored after Make-A-Wish entered center stage of her life. When she was told she could wish for anything her heart desired, she couldn’t imagine any other wish than to perform on Broadway. “It renewed my resolve to continue my treatments, to feel well enough to sing again,” Nicole remembers.
Nicole was granted her wish and given a walk-on part in the New York production of “Wicked.” She had the whole Broadway experience with a tour of the theater, cast meetings with the director, singing sessions with the lead actresses, rehearsals and costume fittings. When it was show time, the moment was magical. “I left my heart on that stage. In fact, it’s still there!” The experience solidified what Nicole truly wanted for her life, to be an actress.
Six years later, and after two double lung transplants, Nicole belts out tunes with the beauty and grace of a true professional. She has been in several theater productions, as well as a role in an independent film. “The experience that Make-A-Wish gave me changed my life. It gave me a whole new outlook, something I will cherish forever.”
