Four-year-old Kellen has been battling end-stage kidney disease since he was a newborn, and his treatments have required him to travel between hospitals for three years. Because of this, their family has been separated for months at a time. His wish to go to the Florida theme parks was his first real break from the hospital.
During his week-long adventure, Kellen rode the rides, watched the shows and created beautiful memories with his siblings. He and his family received VIP treatment as they explored the parks. They got to enjoy stage shows and fireworks from special designated viewing areas, as well as extended meet and greet times with beloved characters. The highlight of the trip was when Kellen met his favorite character of all – Mickey Mouse!
“It was so nice,” said Kellen’s mom. “Kellen hugged Mickey and really got to spend personal time with him! Everyone there made a little choo-choo train to play with Kellen and took the time to make him feel so special.”
After spending the action-packed days in the parks, Kellen and his family enjoyed their down time at Give Kids The World Village. This resort reserved solely for wish families quickly became Kellen’s home away from home, and he enjoyed all the exciting amenities the Village had to offer.
“It’s a year later and he still talks about riding on the monorail and seeing the big castle. We have pictures from his wish all around the house. He sleeps with his Give Kids The World bunny every night,” said Kellen’s mom. “We will always remember the first time our family could come together and enjoy each other without having to worry! This wish was life-changing for our family.”
