Raheem is a boy with a passion for music. A born entertainer, the three-year-old doesn’t let his medical struggles stop him from making music. One of Raheem’s favorite things to do is entertain his family by playing the drums for them. When given the opportunity to have a wish granted, Raheem wished to play in a college drumline with a marching band.
Raheem kicked off his wish day with flair by arriving to the University of Miami in a limousine with his family members. Upon his arrival, he was greeted by Chi Omega sisters from the university. He got into the groove of things by touring the campus in sunny Coral Gables. While exploring, Raheem became fast friends with the Chi Omega sisters and the drumline he would perform with.
Soon enough, it was time for Raheem’s jam session with The Frost Band of the Hour, one of the University of Miami’s drumlines, at the school’s annual Mini Camp. Before the performance started, Raheem was gifted with his own personalized drumsticks in green and orange, his favorite colors! It was music to everyone’s ears as dozens of family members, friends, and students excitedly watched Raheem proudly drum along with the band to Stevie Wonder’s song “I Wish” with his own drum set.
Raheem’s family was elated to see him playing his percussive passion alongside the college drumline. “It’s a feeling I can’t explain,” Raheem’s mom said. “Every time you see him, you just want to cry, not for sadness but happiness.”
