Amber, who battles a life-threatening vascular malformation, wanted her wish to be something that she could enjoy for many years. The 11-year-old from Lauderhill chose to have a bedroom makeover to add some style and flair to the room and better match her personality.
While Amber was spending a weekend with her cousin, her volunteer wish granters were hard at work, transforming her room into the bedroom of her dreams. When she returned home, a huge surprise was waiting for her. She entered her room and was ecstatic to see her imagination come to life. Her bedroom was pink and purple to her exact specifications and featured everything from a flatscreen TV and a sleek bedroom set to a beanbag chair and fun knick knacks. There was a desk and chair for homework and a keypad so she could be alone when she needs to be.
Amber’s favorite part is the painted walls. She said, "My walls were white before. Now they are bright and colorful, and all that jazz!" Her mother added, “Amber’s room has an awesome impact. It’s the haven where she feels comfortable. It’s where she goes to recuperate after a hospital stay or visit to the doctor.
