Salma, an expressive 6-year-old who is battling cancer, wished to build a snowman. Since snow is hard to come by in sunny South Florida, Make-A-Wish® Southern Florida flew Salma and her family to Maine where they stayed at the Grand Summit Hotel at the Sunday River Ski Resort.
For five cheerfully chilly days, Salma bundled up for a swirl of new adventures. She went snow tubing, ice skating and skiing after some lessons from a pro. The highlight of her trip was the one activity that she’d been dreaming about for as long as she can remember – building a snowman.
Her mother said, “Each detail of our stay was simply marvelous…everything was perfect and best of all – the building of that so loved snowman. The effect that Make-A-Wish had on the life of our little one and our family will be unforgettable. That effect will be with us for the rest of our lives because you reached there, where only a few reach and make a difference: the heart.”
