In the jungle, the mighty jungle, 7-year-old Kirra slept at night. This animal lover from Pompano Beach, had a roaring good time when she traveled to San Diego for an up-close look at the San Diego Zoo followed by the chance to sleep among the animals. Her VIP tour and Roar N Snore sleepover at the Safari Park was the perfect way for Kirra to forget her daily struggle battling a rheumatologic disorder. She said, “This was the best day of my life.”
Kirra was treated like the queen of the jungle from the moment she arrived. She enjoyed going beyond the ropes to meet the animals. The zoo had exhibits ranging from the African rainforest to the Arctic tundra. On her tour, she saw a leopard and a dog who were the best of friends, and got to do tricks with the dog.
At night, it was time for her sleepover at the 2,000-acre Safari Park, which presents animals in a more natural setting than the conventional zoo. Kirra slept in a special tent with all of the best accommodations available on a campground overlooking the park’s African plains exhibit. Her mother said the experience was awesome – it included camp activities, an after-hours look at the wild life of the animals, guided walks, a campfire, dinner, roasted marshmallows, breakfast and a park souvenir.
The next morning, Kirra went on a Kid’s Caravan Safari Ride, where she fed a giraffe and a turtle! With five days in San Diego, Kirra and her family found some time to explore everything the city had to offer. She spent one day discovering marine animals at SeaWorld. Her mother said, “It was the most special thing for her ever.”
