23rd Annual Intercontinental Miami Make-A-Wish Ball

October 04, 2017

Make-A-Wish® Southern Florida and InterContinental® Miami are proud to announce GRAMMY® Award-winning artist Lenny Kravitz as headliner of the 23rd annual InterContinental® Miami Make-A-Wish® Ball on Saturday, November 4, 2017. Regarded as one of the preeminent rock musicians of our time and selling over 40 million albums worldwide, Kravitz has transcended genre, style, race and class into a 20-year musical career. Actress and filmmaker Gabrielle Anwar will return as celebrity emcee of The Ball, which is chaired by philanthropist Shareef Malnik. The theme of this year’s ball is Mystical Music Box inspired by enchantment, fantasy and art.

More than 900 guests will be welcomed to the star-studded fundraiser by Shareef Malnik, Board Chairman of Make-A-Wish® Southern Florida, Gala Chair of the InterContinental® Miami Make-A-Wish® Ball,  and proprietor of The Forge Restaurant | Wine Bar; Robert Hill, Gala Host and General Manager of InterContinental® Miami; and Norman Wedderburn, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish® Southern Florida – the trio affectionately known as the “Three Amigos.” Guests in attendance will include prominent business leaders, notable philanthropists, fashion mavens, socialites and jetsetters with a common goal of raising funds for Make-A-Wish® Southern Florida, which grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. The grand evening is made possible with the generous support of the Chairman’s Challenge Society: Shareef Malnik & Gabrielle Anwar, Stuart Miller, The Lennar Foundation, Marshall Ames, Richard Polidori, Todd & Kim Glaser, The Jordan Zimmerman Family Foundation, Geert-Jan & Joyce Bakker, Jim & Sue Oppenheimer, Randy & Barbara Ann Frankel Foundation, UNCS - Brett Rose & Jerry Gutierrez, The Learning Experience/The Weissman Family, Braman Family Foundation, Wayne & Cynthia Boich, Eugene & Brooke Frenkel, Armando Montelongo Companies, Inc., Brett Ratner, RatPac Entertainment, Dennis Crowley & Maria Haupert, Craig Sienema, Ameen & Zainab Killidar on behalf of the Killidar Foundation, Barry Skolnick.

The evening will commence with a lavish cocktail reception where guests will enjoy specialty cocktails and gourmet food stations while bidding at the Ball’s silent auction – known as one of the most extravagant at any gala in South Florida, teeming with coveted items and experiences donated by top hospitality, entertainment, fashion and luxury brands.

The elaborately decorated Grand Ballroom will open its doors at 8:30 p.m. for dinner and dancing, followed by Gabrielle Anwar returning for the seventh consecutive year as celebrity emcee. The evening will close with a special performance by four time Grammy-award winning, multi-platinum-selling artist Lenny Kravitz, presented by the Finker-Frenkel Legacy Foundation. In addition to his numerous career accomplishments, Kravitz's philanthropic endeavors contribute to making a difference in the lives of others by supporting causes such as Artists Against Racism, Elevate Hope Foundation, and WhyHunger.

The official after-party, the InterContinental® Miami Make-A-Wish Nightclub presented by E11EVEN MIAMI, Downtown Miami’s 24/7 ultraclub will be held immediately following the Ball at the InterContinental® Miami featuring a celebrity DJ, special performances by E11EVEN THEATR11CS, and a runway fashion show presented by Brickell City Centre’s Saks Fifth Avenue. Tickets for the Nightclub are $125 in advance and $150 at the door, but for those already attending the Ball prior, there is no charge. There will be a complimentary open bar and elegant evening attire is required.

As the Ball founder, 23-year partner and in-kind donor of the Ball, InterContinental® Miami has contributed more than $10.4 million through in-kind donations to Make-A-Wish® Southern Florida. These donations have enabled the organization to raise more than $21.3 million resulting in over 4,300 wishes being granted to children with life-threatening medical conditions in our community.

“The Ball has underwritten the cost of thousands of ‘bucket-list’ experiences for South Florida families coping with a child’s life-threatening medical condition and, under the direction of Gala Chair Shareef Malnik and Gala Host Robert Hill, continues to deliver an experience for attendees that is unlike any other,” stated Norm Wedderburn, Make-A-Wish Southern Florida President & CEO.
