MIAMI – Make-A-Wish Southern Florida recently partnered with Telemundo to grant the wish of a 13-year-old Alfredo Cardenas, whose dream was to become an actor.
Cardenas, who suffers from sclerocornea and is blind, met young Telemundo star Jose Eduardo Garcia (Lalo), who plays a stellar role in the primetime telenovela “Una Maid in Manhattan.” He met Lalo and also lived the full Telemundo experience including a visit to their Miami studios (guided by Lalo himself) and a role in a Maid in Manhattan scene, recorded especially for him. His studio visit was documented by Telemundo’s news magazine “Al Rojo Vivo con Maria Celeste.” As part of his wish experience, Cardenas has also enrolled for acting classes at Juan Osorio’s “Tu Escenario.”
“We are excited to partner with Telemundo to provide this amazing wish experience. A wish gives a child like Alfredo the chance to put aside their medical struggles and enjoy being a kid again“ said Norman Wedderburn, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida.
