Photography is a hobby – and an escape – for 15-year-old Allison who has a respiratory condition. This Alva teenager undergoes 3-4 treatments a day and gets frequent lung infections that make it hard to breathe. Allison’s wish was to have a top-of-the-line Canon camera lens that would help her better capture images and enhance her skills.
Allison’s wish reveal at the Naples Zoo united her two passions – photography and animals. Holding her new Canon EF 300mm camera lens was a surreal moment. Allison, who loves to photograph animals, received pointers from the zoo’s staff photographer as they toured different exhibits. Equipped with her dream lens, polarizers and other accessories, Allison is ready to photograph everything she can and has her sights set on a career in photography.
“This will benefit her tremendously. It’s something we couldn’t have done for her because of the expense. She will have this forever and maybe even launch her career with it. This is going to open doors for her,” Allison's mother said.

Wish adopted by Miss Lou-Isa Cadiou of the Make-A-Wish Youth Leadership Committee
Allison’s wish was made possible by the fundraising efforts of another 15-year-old through the Make-A-Wish Youth Leadership Committee. Lou-Isa Cadiou, a student at Canterbury School in Fort Myers, held several dinners at her house and a tennis tournament, raising $25,000 to grant the wishes of five children including Allison. Allison’s mother said, ““We were speechless to find out that a 15-year-old raised the money to adopt Allison’s wish. We are impressed and amazed at her kindness and ability to fundraise.“ For more information about the Youth Leadership Committee, click here.
