In the Make-A-Wish Mailbag, we share letters written by wish families, donors, and volunteers about their experience with the Foundation. To all of the angels at the Make-A-Wish Foundation, We can not begin to express the gratitude that we feel to date for granting our William (KENNY)'s wish. Kenny was able to enjoy Disney World with all it's beauty. The beautiful angels that greeted us at Make-A-Wish truly made us feel so special. They were so loving and giving. The village was so beautiful and serene. We would have never ever experienced such love as we did for the days we were there. As a mother of triplets, I saw my little Kenny smiling and happy. Kenny has several health problems. But for several days, all the ills were forgotten and we were able to experience such a surreal, magical time. I was able to see the beautiful stars and also one of little Divine Jackson, who had an inoperable brain tumor. These children are all angels, and if you could ever say,"their is a heaven on earth it would be at the village and all of the experiences that these children are able to experience." The experience will forever be in our hearts. Our family sends their love and
thanks to such a wonderful group of angels who make others feel, love and happiness. With love and hugs, William(Kenny), Mom, Dad, Jessica and Austin Truly appreciated, We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts - Jessica had the time of her life. she had a smile not only on her lips but in her eyes. Her wish started off with five of her best friends climbing into a limo and heading off to the Wellington Green Mall. When we arrived, her Wish Granters (Jennifer & Evelyn) were waiting with a decorated grocery cart and a red carpet. The girls were screaming for joy and I was brought to tears by my daughter's face! All of the girls were given tiaras! Jessica was then escorted to her very own shoping spree. The first store was Charlotte Rouse! Again, I was brought to tears! Her very own personal shopper welcomed her and told her that all the girls working had contributed to a separate gift card of their own for her. She was given the royal treatment. She tried on clothes, ran through the store, and had a ball! We were left exhausted, needing a rest. Jennifer and Evelyn to the rescue! They provided drinks and snacks to freshen them up! She headed to a perfume shop, Pac Sun, Journey's, Limited Too, Abercrombie, EB Games, and finally the Apple Store. After she was "all shopped out", she and her friends enjoyed dinner at Ruby Tuesday. Jessica had a hard time going to sleep that night. she couldn't stop talking about her wonderful day. she now has a wonderful memory to help ease her mind when she thinks of all she has been through. In the future, I hope to share with anyone and everyone I can about your wonderful organization and how you are helping children. And I am so glad that I referred her. Todd & Tracy Hello, I have been wanting to contact the MAW Foundation but due to heavy work load I didn't have a chance but today I promised myself I would no matter what.
My name is Sandra and on the weekend of September 17th and 18th two MAW volunteers made our lives a true unbelievable experience. I do not have enough words of appreciation for TERRI and ABBE who were the wish granters of my son Leonardo V. Morales. My husband and I were extremely exhausted after Leonardo's wish of the Miami Metro Zoo and Parrot Jungle encounters but we smiled with joy as we remembered Leonardo's face throughout his animal encounters. Leonardo was even jumping in his sleep as he was so overwhelmed with excitement because of all the animals he got to see up close. Terri and Abbe we welcome you to our home as one of our own!!!!!!!!! We greatly thank the staff at Miami Metrozoo (Ron Magil) and the staff at Parrot Jungle (Ryan Jacobs) for their courtesy and for allowing Leonardo to be a special little guest at your facilities. The granting of Leonardo's wish touched us very deep and God Bless you Terri and Abbe for making such a special weekend for us. It is our joy to see our son happy and active on a daily basis as he struggles with his treatment. What the MAW Foundation does for children no one knows until you experience it first hand and that is when you realize how people like Terri and Abbe care about bringing a smile to a child's face. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!! We love you!
Sandra and Rolando Dear friends at Make a Wish Foundation, My niece got diagonosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma on Mother's Day. This has been such a nightmare for me, and my family to face. We are still not out of the deep waters so to speak. You have made her so happy by granting her/family trip to Disney. She is so looking forward to it, and needs this trip so much. You are such a wonderful organization, and I heard of you from the Maury Povich show. You brought tears to my eyes for all the wishes you made come true. This is what the children need to recover from their disease. Keep making those wishes come true for the children, and family they need it in their lives to recover. A very grateful Aunt who is quite proud of her niece. My name is Barbara Kivet, My sadness about Nancy J. Strom is overwhelming to me. I met her more than a year ago, I wrote her she answered. She never let on she was that ill. She is my hero. The loss of my son Spencer April 13th 2003, brought me to make a wish as my son supported that as his charity in NJ and NY. My closeness with Kathy Dunbar and the loss of her first born baby, Abigail June Dunbar, brought me to a place I was able to share my pain. Meeting and speaking with Parents who were granted wishes at a donor party made it all worth while. There is a website, called Legacy .com. Write something about Nancy. I promise that I will keep on giving to Make A Wish and Support them in anyway I can. It was Nancy who made that possible. To all the families who were granted wishes, give back something to Nancy J. Strom and her fund and grant her wish to grant a wish to a child each year in her name. My Spencer was 32 and that was too young, Nancy was 57 that's even younger than my 58 years. Kathy's daughter was 8 hours old. My sincere words know no bounds, for the sadness I feel about Nancy to her family and her co-workers to watched her fight, and boy did she fight to live. I shall miss her, Dear Make a Wish Foundation: Enough words cannot be used to express my gratitude for what you did for my daughter Gabrielle. She is still in awe over her new Princess Bedroom and not only goes to sleep at night in her princess crown, but wears it at breakfast in the mornings as well. Her room is so beautiful, it merits having a picture in one of the home designing magazines. The pizza gathering with friends and family added the perfect touch to a magical evening. Wish Granters Bobbie Ordet and Willy Gomez did a tremendous job in making it all come to fruition. Their efforts, dedication and hard work paid off as I see the constant smile on Gabrielle’s face. They are truly wonderful people who have made a difference in her life! To say thank you is to understate my gratitude for what Willy and Bobbie did for Gabrielle and for what Make-a-Wish does for its kids every day. I am teaching my daughter that although happiness is felt when one receives a gift, greater happiness is felt when one gives to others. Gabrielle has a special talent, that of speech. She has spoken a couple times this year on behalf of the children at Ann Storck Center, the developmental preschool Gabrielle attended as a toddler. First, she addressed their 2005 graduation class and recently spoke at their annual “Celebrity Chef” event at our local Hard Rock Hotel. If Make-a-Wish Foundation is ever open to have Gabrielle speak at one of their events, please know that you can always count on her doing so! This is something she loves to do and would be something she can do to give back to such a wonderful organization. Many blessings ! Odalys Dear Make-A-Wish, We have been home for more than a week now and I am happy to say that Emily is doing wonderful! She is happier than she has been in a long time. When you see a child that is ill have a twinkle in their eyes-that means the world! I hope your organization can continue to make children’s dreams and wishes come true. From deep within our hearts, thank you, thank you. Jackie and Archie Dear Friends at Make-A-Wish Foundation, My son, Dennis, was granted a fishing trip to Hawaii wish over 14 years ago. When Dennis got sick, our family went in different directions. The pain and suffering was almost unbearable. The trip granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation was a healing trip to bring the family together again. I don’t know what the granting of a wish does to other children, however if it does what it did for us, may God bless you. If you see Dennis today, you would never know that he is a survivor of a life-threatening medical condition. His attitude is positive, looking at life as very precious. I will continue to share with other people our experience so they may be willing to support your great cause. A very grateful father, Bob Have a letter to submit to the Make-A-Wish Mailbag?
