cornerstone-vita.jpgTell us about the beginning of the Cornerstone Society and why you first started supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Southern Florida.
The Cornerstone Society was created in part to honor my late husband’s memory. He was a wonderful father and had a wonderful sense of family. When I lost him, I needed a sense of purpose so I joined the Make-A-Wish Foundation as a volunteer. I learned firsthand how the kindness of a donor can change the life of a sick child as well as impact everyone who was part of that wish.

Why should others join the Cornerstone Society?
I think everyone should join the Cornerstone Society because it’s a wonderful way of giving and it makes you feel good inside. If we can continue the process of healing the world one wish, one child at a time, it would be a tremendous feeling to you knowing that the children are happy, knowing that they are having a wonderful day and they are forgetting what they have to deal with day to day.

How do you benefit from supporting the Foundation?
This is a way of donating every year to a point where you can actually follow the child’s wish. You find out what they want. You find out where they are going. You find out what makes them happy and it is the feeling in your heart that you know you’ve done something wonderful.

Why do you feel the Cornerstone Society continues to thrive?
I am thrilled that the Cornerstone Society is thriving, knowing how many children are given wishes. I hope it continues. It is a wonderful way of giving and it’s an easy way of giving. You could give monthly. You could give quarterly. You could give yearly. It’s easy and it feels good. It’s a very good feeling.
