Why does Mr. Shower Door support the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida?
It gives us a lot of fulfillment to know we’ve done something good in a child’s life, but it goes further than just a child. It goes to the whole family. It seems that a lot of the wish families that we’ve met, it transcends above just the child. The family just has the experience of a lifetime, and that’s a lot of fulfillment for us. We want Mr. Shower Door to be known as one of the lead supporters of Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Why should other corporations give back?
It really doesn’t matter what organization a business donates or helps within the community. It’s just very important for community involvement. I can’t find a better organization than the Make-A-Wish Foundation, that’s why we chose it.
How do you benefit from supporting the Foundation?
I like to think we benefit emotionally first of all – it’s just a good feeling that you’re doing something good. And we have our whole staff buy into it so that everyone knows, from our installers to our salespeople, all the way through management, that a portion of every sale goes to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. And there’s that feel-good feeling so that stimulates good business sense.
How is giving back rewarding?
I would like to see other businesses have the same experience we’ve had, the true satisfaction of helping out somebody within the community, you know those things will last for years and years. We benefitted a 4-year-old girl. I know that when she’s 20 years old she’s still going to remember that Mr. Shower Door made her wish come true. I think every business should have the opportunity to experience that same feeling.
How do you share your support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida with your customers?
In our showroom it’s kind of neat when we can’t get to a customer immediately they start wandering, looking at pictures on the wall, waiting for someone. We have what we call our Wall of Fame and on there are different celebrities that we’ve played golf with or met through different charitable organizations, but one of the things on the wall that’s near and dear to me is a testimonial letter from one of the families that we helped and we sponsored her wish. And it’s very near and dear to all of us within the organization and we keep it on the wall and we make sure we point it out to all of our customers that some of the money that they buy their shower doors with goes to helping a cause like this. And most people just feel very very good, warm and fuzzy about being involved in it.
