To 13-year-old Alberto, Jason Mraz is more than just his favorite singer, he’s a huge inspiration. When Alberto was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, he drew courage from a particular song that has become his anthem. The song is “Remedy” which Jason Mraz wrote for his best friend who was battling the same type of cancer.

Upon meeting the pop star at the Charter One Pavilion in Chicago, Alberto told his mother, “This is the best day of my life.” Not only did Jason Mraz spend time with him backstage, he also gave Alberto the hat right off his head, one of his trademark fedoras. Jason signed autographs, posed for photos and offered Alberto some words of advice. He said, “You can do whatever you set your mind to. Believe that you have a purpose.”

His wish experience hit an even higher note during the concert that followed. While watching Jason perform, Alberto was amazed to hear his musical idol dedicate “Remedy” to “his friend Alberto.” It was a surreal moment!
