Why did you get involved with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida?
After our first child was born, my wife Jennifer and I became more in tune and sensitive to the needs of children. We know how fortunate we are that our children (Jessica, 6 and Scott, 3) are healthy and we want to help other families.
What does your involvement with the Foundation mean to you?
I enjoy my association with the Foundation. It’s very rewarding. It’s a great way to give back to the community and teach my children the importance of philanthropy. When I completed my first 5-year commitment, I was thrilled to receive a wish story about the child whose wish I sponsored. My wife and I read it with my daughter. It’s powerful and eye-opening to hear the story of a child’s wish. I look forward to staying involved with the Foundation in the future.
What are your feelings about the importance of charitable giving with today’s economy?
Even more so in today’s economy, it’s important to help others. Times are bad for a lot of people. I feel it’s our responsibility to dig a little deeper to make up the difference to help others.
