Four-year-old Sarah’s vivid imagination and dreams of being a storybook princess help her cope with her battle with leukemia. That’s why she wished for a fantastic Walt Disney World® vacation. Days before her scheduled trip, Sarah was hospitalized for a blood infection. With her doctor’s help and her determination, Sarah’s infection cleared up in time for her six-day Orlando adventure.
At Give Kids The World Village, Sarah made a beeline for the carousel, riding it 10 times in a row. When her parents let her choose which bed she wanted to sleep in, Sarah laughed and chose the king-size bed, leaving her parents to slumber in a pair of full-size beds. From eating ice cream for breakfast to meeting the Disney characters, every moment was spectacular. At an enchanted Epcot® meet-and-greet, Sarah met the Disney princesses. Each princess showered the awestruck girl with hugs and kisses and posed for pictures with their biggest fan. Sarah decided to celebrate her status as the newest member of Disney royalty with a dress to match. She twirled with happiness as she modeled her new gown – a replica of Belle’s Christmas Ball dress in “Beauty and the Beast.”
Upon returning home, Sarah carries her Make-A-Wish® bag with her everywhere. She uses it to tote around all her essentials – stuffed animals, a book, some jewelry and a piece of candy. She loves to tell everyone about the magical tale of her wish vacation to Walt Disney World®.
