Seven-year-old Brandon’s wish to have a wheelchair van lift has greatly improved his quality of life. His family purchased the van a year earlier in hopes of one day installing a ramp and his wish made it possible. The Foundation went to work, finding the ideal lift to make the van more accessible and getting it professionally installed.

On his wish day, Brandon was giddy with excitement. With “Celebration” playing in the background and bubbles soaring in the sky, the family van was delivered with the brand new customized lift, fully operational and ready to go. Brandon and his father cut the red ribbon that adorned his special gift and a round of applause ensued. To celebrate such a momentous event, his wish granters presented him with balloons and a Make-A-Wish® t-shirt that he proudly wore. That afternoon, Brandon and his family ventured out to a local restaurant for the first time in a long time, where they marveled at his newfound ease of traveling.

In the short time since his wish was granted, Brandon’s life has changed. Before the lift was installed, it was very difficult for his family to get him and his wheelchair in and out of the family van. Now that it is a much easier task, Brandon enjoys lots more trips out of the house. He loves to feel the fresh air on his face and go out with his family  –  to visit his extended family, to church on Sundays, to see the animals at the Metro Zoo or just about anywhere else they go. Every time he gets in the family van now, a huge smile flashes across his face. He wants to go anywhere and everywhere. His parents are delighted at how happy Brandon is now that he can travel more.
